Bangkok will celebrate with Queen’s birthday

On the 12^th August each year, thousands of Bangkok citizens celebrate Queen Sirikit as Sanam Luang is lit up with hundreds and thousands of candles, together with a beautifully lit up Thanon Ratchadamnoen, once the widest street in Bangkok.

Born in 1932, her majesty Sirikit Kitiyakara is devoted to helping the Thai people and improving welfare amongst Thai citizens. A public holiday, the Queen’s birthday is celebrated throughout Thailand when candles are lit and portraits of the Queen are placed on display around the country.
